burning questions
i know if you were to approach a gynae before at least a year of trying, he/she would most likely turn you away. "try some more," they'll say. "window period is 2 years, honey."
i'm halfway there, and would like to see a gynae before a year is up. i hardly think they'd dismiss you on the grounds of a pre-pregnancy check-up, especially if you mention (eeeps!): pap smear.
i dread asking my mom about this, cos it's too personal a subject for us to be discussing. i know *she* won't feel comfortable talking to me about it too. so now, i implore you pap smear veterans... what does the procedure feel like (does the speculum hurt at all)? and how much does it normally cost? i wince at the thought of being scraped internally, but what the hell right?

Hi dear! Pap Smear tak sakit, cuma a bit errr...uncomfortable lah first time. Just something cold, and its over within a few seconds! You woudn't know that you are being scraped!Don't worry.
I think the cost may be abt $30-$50, depending on where you go!!!

Hello Dear,
Guess we are in the same situation!! Been trying to get pregnant for almost a year (next mth will be my 1st year Anniversary). Everymth false alarm. Went to KK hospital for a full body check up and found out that I'm Perfectly NORMAL.. the advise that the doctor gave me is :"Try to LOSE some weight" (i put on alot of weight aft married) But hey, some people much more fatter then me can conceived easily, why not me?? Grrrrr..
Hi..
Been told by a veteran that it's fast and not much pain. It's cheaper if you do it at a polyclinic (ard $15).

adik rini...pap smear test are ok. it'll be over so quickly. maybe just a bit uncomfortable when they poke the disposable speculum down there.
looks like there's nothing to be afraid of eh? ok i trust u pap smear veterans. :) does sgh really offer it for only 8 bucks? so cheap!
zany, trust me, any BDing will not be done only during 'O'. it's more like working *overtime* around 'O'! LOL. currently trying out alternate days. we'll see if that works.
Hei rouge
Boy am i glad i have someone as neurotic as i am when it comes to gettin pregnant. am a mother of one and been trying for the past yr to get pregnant. e lil sweet of mine is coming to three.
neurotic - yes i am! couple that with 'paranoid' and 'worrywort', and you get ME. but anyone who feels passionately about having kids would be, yes? and wow, you have a kid already! at least you know *your* plumbing works. syukur :)
Hi Rouge!
Useful blog you've got here. Hey! I'm not alone. :) I've been TTC for almost 2 yrs now. Sadly to no avail. 1st few mths of marriage, i wasnt really concern abt not being preggy & i've not even tried HPT till at a point of time I had to go for an x-ray. All along tak tau apa itu HPT :p I'm now trying the BBT method. A friend recommended me this url http://www.fertilityfriend.com it's kinda useful. She told me its proven useful & she got pregnant through it. But sadly she'd a miscarry due to low LP (luteal phase)
As for the pap smear, errr....not to scare you off but i felt traumatic after the procedure :( due to my low threshold of pain, i was in a lot of pain during & after the procedure. the lady doctor is very rough & nasty. I learnt - male doc are more gentle than female doc. But still I'd opt for female.

pap traumatic for you? oh no. paranoia hits home once again.
i have already visited fertilityfriend.com a long time ago. i'm iffy abt BBT cos i don't wake up at the same time every day. mcm leceh gitu. i think the fertility monitor is a much more convenient way to track my ovulation. but of cos lagi mahal lah. you must be uber religious abt taking your temp. tell me how it goes k.
hi rouge!
it's such a joy knowing tat i'm not alone in tis struggle to conceive. i truly, honestly empathise wf wat u're going thru these past 5mths. i, on the other hand, had been trying for over 2yrs now...made a decision to see a gynae after the 1st yr, went thru a pap smear test which was not painful as i learned to relax but juz felt a slight discomfort & it was over b4 i even knew it! soon after the results were out, my gynae suggested tat i go for HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) to determine if my tubes are open & Alhamdullillah, everyting's a-ok. tat same mth, the HPT showed a positive sign (yeay!) but it was shortlived...i had a pregnancy loss in my 6th wk (21 mar 04 to be exact)...the baby-making factory had a 2mths break as instructed by gynae...it's in production again till today...so dear rouge, try not to worry too much & get yourself overly stressed out & enjoy the two-some for now...& i wish both of us & all the others out there the best & hope one day, we'll be mommies too!
